Outgoing staff mobility

Erasmus staff mobility can take place from any Programme Country to any other Programme Country. In order to ensure high-quality mobility activities with maximum impact, the mobility activity must be linked to the professional development of staff members and respond to their learning and personal development needs.

Mobility opportunities for staff

– održavanje nastave / poučavanje for teaching staff abroad at a partner higher education institution. A teaching period allows higher education institution teaching staff or company staff to teach at a partner higher education institution abroad. Staff mobility for teaching purposes can take place in any field of study / any academic discipline.

– professional development/training abroad at a partner higher education institution, company or any other relevant workplace supports the professional development of teaching and non-teaching staff of a higher education institution. A training period enables higher education staff to participate in a training activity abroad that is relevant to their daily work at the higher education institution. It can take the form of training activities or work observation.

Teaching staff can apply for the teaching/instruction activity, and both teaching and non-teaching staff can apply for the professional development/training activity. A combination of teaching and training is also possible.

All staff have the option of using blended mobility. The format involves short-term physical mobility combined with online learning, i.e. with a mandatory virtual component before, during and/or after the physical part of the mobility.

Duration of mobility

Standard physical mobility for the purpose of teaching can last a minimum of 2 days (the condition is to hold at least 8 hours of classes), and a maximum of 60 days (not including travel days).

Standard physical mobility for the purpose of professional development can last a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 60 days (not including travel days).

The initiated activity must be maintained continuously and cannot be interrupted unless there are justified reasons for doing so.

Mobility may be extended to a maximum duration of 2 months if sufficient financial resources are available.

The teaching/teaching must comprise at least 8 teaching hours per week (or any shorter period of stay). If the teaching/teaching is combined with professional development/training during a period abroad, the minimum number of teaching hours per week (or any shorter period of stay) is reduced to 4 hours. If the mobility lasts longer than one week, the minimum number of teaching hours per partial week must be proportional to the duration of that week.

In the case of blended mobility, the physical part must last from 5 to 30 days.

Formal requirements

Staff mobility for the purpose of teaching at partner higher education institutions is achieved exclusively on the basis of Erasmus inter-institutional agreements concluded between Croatian and foreign higher education institutions that have been granted the Erasmus University Charter.

An inter-institutional agreement is not required in the case of professional development, but if the development is carried out at a higher education institution, it must be a holder of the Erasmus Charter.

When professional development is planned at an institution that does not have the status of a higher education institution, it is not necessary to conclude an inter-institutional agreement. The relationship between the staff member and the institution concerned is determined by the individual curriculum/work plan (Mobility Agreement).

Professional development/training supports the professional development of teaching and non-teaching staff of a higher education institution in the form of training abroad (except conferences!) and work monitoring/observation/training at a partner higher education institution or other appropriate organization abroad.

In teaching activities, participants must have a scientific-teaching title or an artistic-teaching title, or an associate assistant title. It is also possible for employees to participate in the status of a scientific junior, provided that they are involved in the delivery of the teaching.

In professional development activities, participants may be members of the teaching and non-teaching staff.

The calculation of financial support includes:

  •  living expenses – for working days of stay determined by the European Commission
  • travel expenses – unit amounts depending on the distance of the destination
